This is a collaborative blog. Well, let's face it, they all are. But, specifically, this one's a collaboration between me, my friend Camii, and sometimes my brother. Here you'll find waitressing stories, bar quotes, movie reviews, and the occasional cake.

Cry Baby

"The only gossip I'm interested in is things from the Weekly World News - 'Woman's bra bursts, 11 injured.' That kind of thing." Johnny Depp, from imbd.com

Yesterday, I did no writing because I was a tired bum. Today I got about 700 words typed up and I’m going to do some more when I get home. First I have to go to the financial aid office and see what they can tell me about paying fall tuition. It is a meeting I am not looking forward to because it’ll be a lot of waiting around and/or them telling me I have to fill out paperwork. Oh joy of joys.

Movie Review: Cry Baby. This is one of Johnny Depp’s earliest movies and it’s interesting to note how similar he looks between now and then. There is something disturbing about how he doesn’t really seem to age. For the movie itself, I have to say that when Neflix describes the director as “the king of kitsch” the description applies to the film pretty well. It’s a musical with a high cheese factor. Think Grease with fat girls and horrible makeup. I have to admit, the weird and dorky in this movie is a bit charming, when I wasn’t too distracted by the intentionally gross teeth many of the actors sported. Unlike Pirates of the Caribbean, Depp wasn’t one of them. So, in the end the big hokey music numbers, oozing melodrama, and stereotype hyperbole are fun, but I don’t think I’d watch this movie twice.
