This is a collaborative blog. Well, let's face it, they all are. But, specifically, this one's a collaboration between me, my friend Camii, and sometimes my brother. Here you'll find waitressing stories, bar quotes, movie reviews, and the occasional cake.

WM Exerpt

Here's what I wrote at our last stop which was on the Arkansas River. It's messy, I know. This is the rough draft right out of my notebook:

The bridge support tells me LOVE and don't get me wrong, I'm all for love, but I find it odd that none of the officially sanctioned murals along the river say anything about love, only the grafitti. Official murals:
Irish Club
Recyle, Reuse, Reduce 4R Planet
I Walk on This Earth

The only one that comes close seems like it's a quote from somewhere, though I can't peg it. "The biggest expression of a civilization is not art but the supreme tenderness that can be between human beings. Art proceeds out of an exquisite awareness of life." I wonder, though, if it isn't a quote, but the artist's own words. Maybe I should Google it and see if anything comes up.

To our left, a kayaker makes his or her way upstream and Nicole asks, "Is kayak a palindrome?"

LOVE painted on the bridge support in clumsy red letters that have to be at least ten feet high. LOVE is bigger than I am.

On the train bridge that goes across the Interstate just after Abriendo, I think this same person has been at work.

LOVE, HOPE, and WONDER have all appeared there, painted over soon enough with grey. Once, the words were DANNY GLOVER. The best part, though, is seeing one word sometimes become another. I remember seeing HOPE morph into WONDER. LOVE became DANNY GLOVER. It's all connected, see?
